Sound Meditation
Sound meditation is rooted in the science of vibrational therapy, where specific frequencies and tones help regulate the nervous system and promote deep relaxation. Research shows that sound vibrations can stimulate the vagus nerve, reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels, and activate the parasympathetic "rest and digest" response, making it a powerful tool for emotional regulation. In our therapy space, sound meditation can be gently integrated if desired. We might begin or end sessions with soothing tones to help ground the body and mind.
As a practitioner, I actively work to decolonize wellness practices by honoring the cultural and spiritual origins of sound healing—traditions that stem from Indigenous, Eastern, and African lineages. My use of sound is grounded in respect, cultural awareness and to acknowledge and uplift the deep histories these practices carry.
